Some of them are no larger than a grain of rice while others can fit into the palm
of your hand, each one being an original work of art.
Not having any formal lessons, Anya started out making simple animals
as a childhood hobby for her dollhouse and learnt how to sculpt through
her own observation and a deep routed interest in wildlife and animals.
In 2005 after enrolling on a miniatures course run by Jane Harrop, Anya began to take
miniatures more seriously as an art form making detailed 1:12th scale furniture and
accessories. Seeing how much realism could be achieved in miniature was an opportunity
to experiment further with her sculptures. Anya began exploring ways to replicate
realistic fur and life-like eyes using coloured beads, stones, feathers and different
fibres producing her own feathering techniques for her birds as she progressed.
Since then she has produced commisioned work, as well as creating her own projects.
Her work has been featured in American Miniaturist magazine, and she has had tutorials
published in Miniaturas Magazine through CDHM (Custom Doll Houses and Miniatures)
and Artisans in miniature
More Recently Anya has started making animals in 1:24 scale, as well as a collection of
Mythological Sculptures which will be released in 2010.
